Millions of people will have problems with diabetes and metabolism. People with diabetes mellitus have different metabolism than people who don’t have the disease. This is due to the fact that the body is unable to metabolize glucose properly. Especially in type 2 diabetes, pre-diabetes, and metabolic syndrome, glucose levels become elevated and weight gain is likely. With further weight gain, diabetes and metabolism problems become worse.

People with diabetes are unable to use insulin properly. Insulin is the hormone that allows glucose to enter the body’s cells. People with type 1 diabetes cannot produce insulin, and people with type 2 diabetes either do not produce enough or the body cannot use its insulin effectively enough. Therefore, people with a diabetes metabolism and those with a normal metabolism are essentially the same, aside from the fact that they are not able to use insulin properly.
