Including diverse medical fields, metabolic syndrome congress programs explore the interrelated aspects of metabolic syndrome, further developing prevention and treatment strategies. Each metabolic syndrome congress is created as an academic and professional development opportunity for scientists and health care professionals; they are not open to the general public.

The 5th International Congress on Prediabetes and the Metabolic Syndrome will be held in Vienna, Austria in April of 2013. The congress is open to physicians, scientists, nurses, dieticians, and residents (non-tenured junior scientists). The main topics the congress will discuss are: gut hormones in obesity, early stages of diabetes, and metabolic syndrome; GLP-1 mimetics and DPP-4 inhibitors in early diabetes and metabolic syndrome; role of GLP-1 axis in prevention and cardiovascular health; lessons from bariatric surgery and interventional diabetology and its interventional use; insulin resistance and athersclerosis; impact of nutrition and exercise; pharmacologic prevention of diabetes and CVD.

Metabolic Syndrome Congress – United States

The annual Cardio-metabolic Syndrome Health Congress will take place in Boston, Massachusetts in October of 2012. The lectures will explore the most latest, most effective strategies for preventing, diagnosing, and managing type 2 diabetes, atherosclerosis, hypertension, dyslipidemia, obesity, thrombosis, chronic kidney disease, and related diseases and syndromes as well as exploring the interconnected aspects of these maladies. The Cardio-metabolic Syndrome Congress focuses on research being done in the United States, inviting over a thousand U.S. based scientists and clinicians to participate in and lead academic sessions.

The 10th Annual World Congress on Insulin Resistance, Diabetes & Cardiovascular Disease (WCIRDC) will be held in November 2012 in Los Angeles, California. Aimed at health care professionals from a variety of specializations, the congress will cover traditional cardiovascular risks, diabetes, obesity, atherosclerosis, dyslipidemia, hypertension, and their relationships with inflammation, sleep disturbance, immunogenicity, adipocyte, neurohormonal, gut, brain, and fat interrelationships. Unlike the Boston congress, the WCIRDC has a global focus. The scientific organizing committee for WCIRDC is the International Committee for Insulin Resistance (ICIR), drawings faculty members from the United States and France.
