In addition, it has a large back-lit screen and USB port. The OneTouch Ultra Mini is small in size and can easily be kept in a pocket. It has a 500 test memory and two scrolling buttons making it a good choice for when you need to test yourself outside of your home. The OneTouch Ultra Smart is by far the most complex, allowing entries for Exercise, Health, Medication, and Food, as well as a graph function to give a visual of your blood glucose range and the average time of day.

Testing Blood Glucose With OneTouch Diabetes Meter

In order to test your blood sugar OneTouch recommends the following products: control solution, lancing device and lancets, and OneTouch test strips. The control solution is used to test the device and ensure that it is giving accurate readings. It is recommended to use the solution once a week to test the meter

(especially if it’s been dropped or damaged) or whenever a new vial of test strips is used. When using an OneTouch diabetes glucose meter you must also use OneTouch test strips. Testing strips come with a coding device to calibrate the meter and it is necessary to calibrate the meter every time you use a new batch of strips. After lancing your finger, touch the blood sample to the strip and wait for your results. Samples may be taken from your forearm, fingers, or palms. OneTouch recommends using any of these three sites for testing routinely before meals, before or two hours after a meal, rapid-acting insulin injection or insulin pump bolus, or exercise. When blood glucose is changing rapidly within two hours of finishing a meal, rapid-acting insulin or insulin pump bolus, or exercise OneTouch recommends testing on the fingertip, as well as when you suspect hypoglycemia.

OneTouch Diabetes Accessories

In addition to their meters and accessories, OneTouch also offers various forms of support. There is a free downloadable logbook (http://www.onetouch.com/logbook) as well as software. The software allows you to download your test results directly from your meter, making it easy to share the information with your doctor.
